CAREER PROFILE
John commenced his advertising career in Melbourne, 1970 as a freelance graphic designer with Artist Partners where he serviced advertising agencies and business houses supplying creative campaigns and corporate packages.
In 1971 John joined General Advertising Company of Australia. As group art director of that agency, he was responsible for the creative direction of a wide range of accounts including Mazda, Humes, Sony, Hoechst, Austral Mining, Thrifty Link Hardware and Thomas Cook Travel.
During his six years at General Advertising, John kept in close contact with Geelong, creating corporate campaigns for several Geelong Businesses.
By 1975 an increasing number of Geelong businesses were demanding sound, professional advertising and market direction.
The Prospect of establishing a vital, creative agency in Geelong became a reality in August of that year, when John C. Wood Advertising was formed.
Initially clients were local retailers and manufacturers, soon the list included both state and national accounts comprising: Accident Insurance Mutual, Backwell IXL, B.T. Insurance, Capital Building Society and Mary Kay Cosmetics
Today, the client list reflects the versatility of John Wood Advertising & Marketing. Clients incorporate the total spectrum from retail, manufacturing, insurance, finance to service industries.
The Agency employs a staff of four and engages photographers, artists, consultants when specific projects/campaigns arise.
